CoolSculpting Q & A
How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting uses state-of-the-art freezing technology to crystallize fat cells without surgery; it’s an alternative to liposuction.
During your appointment, your practitioner applies the system’s applicator to your treatment area. The system immediately starts freezing fat cells through your skin, which breaks down the structural integrity of fat cells.
Over the following weeks, your body starts flushing out all those broken down fat particles. Once they’ve left your system, they’re gone for good. Fat cells won’t come back unless you gain weight again in the future.
When will I see results with CoolSculpting?
You might start noticing a more toned physique within two to three weeks of your treatment, with your best results surfacing about eight weeks after your session. Your body continues to flush out fat for the following few months, so you could keep losing fat for four to six months.
In many cases, men and women love their results after having just one CoolSculpting session. But you can have the treatment repeated if you want to enhance your results further, or if you're going to treat another area.
Which areas can be treated with CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is FDA cleared for treating several areas of your body, so you can feel confident that the procedure is safe and effective. You can have CoolSculpting treatments on your:
Inner or outer thighs
Buttocks (banana roll)
Abdomen and flanks
Upper or lower back
Chin, neck, and jawline
In many cases, you can have multiple areas treated during a single session.
Is CoolSculpting painful?
CoolSculpting doesn’t cause pain. But because the system does use freezing technology, it can become a little uncomfortable at times. Most clients report feeling a slight cramping sensation as peak freezing bursts disperse through skin cells. This sensation is well-tolerated and isn’t painful.
Depending on which area you’re having treated, there may also be some suctioning involved. You might feel some pulling during treatment in this case.
Afterward, it’s common to experience some tingling as your skin starts warming back up. Your practitioner gently massages your treatment area for several minutes to help improve blood flow to the area and minimize the tingling sensation.
